Numerous small in-text engraved illustrations of animals, many signed "Whimper". Many passages from the bible referring to animals are quoted, e.g. Deuteronomy xxxii. 11. "As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings" - page 50. Also with quotations from later zoological writers. "There are two animals which each claim to be the unicorn of Scripture, viz., the buffalo and the rhinoceros. Of both of these a short account will be given, but the general opinion is in favour of the latter" - page 141.; 16mo.
