No stated date c1939. Presumed first edition. 128pp. and 40 pen and ink drawings. Largs is a town on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire, situated about 33 miles from Glasgow. In 1263 it was the site of the Battle of Largs between the Norwegian and the Scottish armies. In this book the author has endeavoured to present a fresh and invigorating picture of the town, freed from the heavy hand of the historian, and the brevity of the modern guidebook. The book is bound in the original grey cloth covered boards with black titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with bumping to the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with a little scattered light foxing. There is also some foxing on the fore edge of the text block and on a few pages this has seeped a little way into the fore margin. A name has been written on the front free endpaper. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear and soiling, mostly visible on the spine and back. The top edge is rubbed with some creasing and up to about 1/2" is missing from the top of the spine and small pieces are missing from the top corners. There are a few small tear on the top edge that have been repaired on the reverse with tape. The wrapper is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover. N° de réf. du vendeur gScotWest14
