ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 2018). 2018 1st edition. Large 8vo (174 x 246mm). Pp438. Colour and b/w photographs, b/w illustrations by David Blackaller, illustrated end-papers. Blue boards, upper board and spine titled in gilt. Near fine in dust-wrapper. Limitation label to half-title - No. 338 of 400 numbered copies. The final book from all-round specimen hunter, Tony Miles. Based on the author's manuscript that was nearing completion before he passed away whilst chub fishing on the River Ouse in the winter of 2016. Several planned chapters, on catfish, zander, dace and grayling were incomplete and so have not been included whilst those on roach and pike were so near completion that they have been included in the book. The author, in his introduction, states that "this book is likely to be my last major contribution to angling literature and, in a way, sums up my life's work in the pursuit of specimen fish. After a writing career of fifty years some of the content you may have read before. I make no apologies for that, however, as I wanted this to be as complete a volume on my approach to big fish catching as possible. I wanted nothing omitted." ".what I have attempted to achieve [in this book] is a solid grounding in well proven techniques for finding and catching big fish. There is, however, one proviso. All the techniques you will read about in these pages are ones that I have used myself in practical angling situations. I have resisted the tempation to give advice where I have no personal experience, and have kept my comments short where my experience is limited. This is as it should be. I have no time for 'armchair' angling writers who write about what others have said and theorise about fishing topics without first hand knowledge. Without exception all my comments in this book are based on many hours on the bank." An excellent book and fitting tribute to one of our finest all-round specimen anglers. Chapters include: What is a specimen?; Understanding rivers; Understanding stillwaters; Tackle; Individual species - Barbel; Bream; Carp; Crucian carp; Chub; Perch; Pike; Roach; Rudd; Tench; Gallery. The book opens with tributes to Tony Miles from several of his friends and family - Fran Miles; Chris Miles; Debbie Jones; Jacqueline Sanderson; Matthew Bodily; Adrian Busby; Alan Lawrence; Trefor West; Martin James MBE; Clive Goode; Bob Karn and Mick Nicholls. The foreword is by the publisher, Wayne Cryer. . N° de réf. du vendeur 62393
