Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat de la jaquette : Good. 1st Edition. This book is "Lincoln's Commando, the Biography of Commander William B. Cushing U.S.N." Written jointly by Ralph J. Roske and Charles Van Doren, the book was published by Harper& Brothers in 1957. This is the First Edition. Commander Cushing is famous for his heroic - and often dare-devil - actions against the Confederate navy. His most noteworthy feat was the sinking of the 'Albemarle', the Confederacy's formidable ironclad which pummeled the Union fleet mercilessly. It's an exciting book, illustrated with reproductions of old prints and contemporary photographs. the end-papers are printed with four different maps, displaying the fields of action. The jacket errs in citing a frontispiece, which did not exist; all the illustrations were grouped in a discrete section, and the list of illustrations contains no frontispiece. BINDING -- The book has been read and thus is not as tight as when issued, but remains solid with no detached or loose leaves. INTERIOR -- Clean and unmarked throughout. DUST-JACKET -- Chipped and nicked, with minute tears along the edges; a minute discoloration displays at the foot of the rear spine fold - spine panel extremities display the most wear; surface rub is moderate; slight toning to reverse. Front flap still has original publisher's price. The whole displays decently under an archival, Clear mylar cover, which protects the jacket from further wear.
