Neuware -Manzala's lagoon is the largest brackish water body of the Nile Delta coastal lakes lies between 31° 00' and 31° 30' latitude and 31° 45' and 32° 20' longitude and is shallow with depth rarely exceeding one meter with a total area ~700 square kilometre. It is a rhombohedral-shaped water body formed in the actively subsiding delta plain and lies in the northern quadrant of the delta between the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Suez Canal, Port Said to the east, the Damietta Branch of the River Nile and the governorates of Sharkiya and Dakahliya to the west. Over the last few decades, the Manzaläs lagoon has undergone dramatic environmental changes. The effluents of drains cause the Lake to became almost stagnant or at least current less. This study aimed to isolate and identify fungi from sediments of some polluted sites in the Lake, examine the biosorption potentiality of some selected taxa in single and mixed culture against different concentrations of heavy metals, and optimize the factors affecting the biosorption of some heavy metals by selected taxa.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 112 pp. Englisch.

Située entre 31° 00' et 31° 30' de latitude et 31° 45' et 32° 20' de longitude, elle est peu profonde, sa profondeur dépassant rarement un mètre, et sa superficie totale est d'environ 700 kilomètres carrés. Il s'agit d'une masse d'eau de forme rhomboédrique formée dans la plaine du delta qui s'affaisse activement et qui se trouve dans le quadrant nord du delta entre la mer Méditerranée au nord, le canal de Suez, Port Saïd à l'est, la branche Damietta du Nil et les gouvernorats de Sharkiya et Dakahliya à l'ouest. Au cours des dernières décennies, la lagune de la Manzala a subi des changements environnementaux dramatiques. Les effluents des drains font que le lac est devenu presque stagnant ou du moins moins moins courant. Neuware -Information about Egyptian ascosporic fungi are very rare and limited because members of the group were either overlooked during investigations or never been the sole target of any investigation before. In this study I conducted a survey study focusing mainly on the ascosporic forms.To give a picture of the ascosporic mycobiota of Egypt, various substrates including different soils, dung of herbivore animals, composts, phylloplane, stored seeds and grains were investigated adopting appropriate isolation techniques. Fifty-eight taxa were reported and their frequency of occurrence and substrate preference were determined. Species richness at the substrate level revealed that herbivore dung is the richest by housing 38 taxa, followed by cultivated soil (22) and salt marsh soils (15). At the taxonomic level, order Sordariales came first by accommodating 23 taxa followed by Eurotiales (11). Multivariate analyses using Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) and Two Way Indictor Species Analysis (TWINSPAN) were used to characterize community structure and to find out possible relationships among substrates and also between some taxa and certain substrates.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 244 pp. Englisch.
