He is best known for his collection of fables featuring anthropomorphic animals that illustrate moral lessons of honesty, wisdom and kindness. One or two handling marks to the boards, with a couple of spots of damp staining to rear boards. Rubbing and bumping to extremities. Joints strained, rear joint separated about four inches at the centre, and slightly at the extremities, but holding firm. Previous owner's inscription to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound.
