Hauptwerk des französischen Chirurgen Alexis Boyer (1757 - 1833), das in der Originalausgabe ab 1814 (Traité des maladies chirurgicales, 1814 - 1826) und bereits kurz darauf in deutscher Übersetzung erschien. Im Gesamtumfang von ca. 5.600 S. Boyer, Sohn eines Barbiers, bildete sich zunächst autodidaktisch, zeigte früh Talent beim Sezieren und fand die Förderung der renommierten Chirurgen Antoine Louis (1723 - 1792) und Pierre-Joseph Desault (1744 - 1795). Von 1782 an war er zunächst als Wundarzt, dann als Professor 1782 am Pariser H?pital de la Charité, später an der an der Klinik der neugegründeten École de santé in Paris tätig; 1804 avancierte er zum ersten Wundarzt Kaiser Napoleons I ("premier chirurgien de l'Empereur"), den er auch auf dessen Feldzügen begleitete. Der Übersetzer des hier angebotenen Werkes, der deutsche Chirurg Kajetan Textor (1782 - 1860) gehörte zu Boyers Schülern. Die Bände stellenweise leicht berieben, sonst in sehr gutem Zustand; Seiten frisch und fleckenfrei; die Bände wirken ungelesen. Sehr gutes Exemplar dieser frühen chirurgischen Operationslehre.
