Alvin Kugelmass, is a biography that chronicles the life and expeditions of Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen. Published by Julian Messner, Inc., this work is part of the Messner Shelf of Biographies series and spans 191 pages. Amundsen's journey into polar exploration began in 1897 when he joined the Belgian Antarctic Expedition as first mate. This experience exposed him to the harsh realities of polar conditions and the psychological challenges faced by explorers. Determined to pursue his dream, Amundsen later became the first person to navigate the Northwest Passage from ocean to ocean, achieving this feat with a six-man crew aboard the Gjøa from 1903 to 1906.
