Edité par Artists Equity Association, New York, 1951., 1951
Vendeur : DR Fine Arts, New York, NY, Etats-Unis
Soft cover. Etat : Good. With 5 color & 51 monochrome original lithographs & most are signed in the plate (not hand signed); paper size: 9-¾ x 12inches; Content page states: "This is Volume II of Improvisations. Improvisations was first conceived in 1950 from an idea by Julio de Diego as a medium for advertisers in sympathy with the ideals of Artists Equity Association. As in Improvisations 1950, the member-artists who illustrated this journal were selected by the advertisers and were given complete freedom of expression. Each page was designed by the artist directly on the litho plate, thus making this a collection of original lithographs."; - The Editor. Edition is limited to 2000 copies of which this is number #597; Published in conjunction with the Artists Equity 'Masquerade Ball' held at the Hotel Astor, May 4, 1951. ALL THE Plates are there except maybe missing the Alicia Fiene's plate (4 plates I can't figure who the artist are, so to help figure out the different plates, I have taken the liberty by numbering the pages on the Content page, it is in pencil and can be easily erased if purchaser wishes) WORKS BY THE ARTISTS including: Milton Avery, Isabel Bishop, Chaim Gross, Hans Hofmann, Reginald Martin, Fletcher Martin, Ben Shahn, Raphael Soyer, Marcel Vertès and Max Weber; there are 4 colour lithographs printed on both sides of the wraps as well as the colored frontispiece; 51 monochrome lithographs are printed on a variety of colored stocks; the text includes preface by Ernest Fiene, Chairman of the New York chapter, program notes, lists of directors, sponsors and patrons; white plastic spiral spine. CONDITION OF the book: the front wrapper is detached and has lots of rubbing; the back wrapper is still attached but also has lots of rubbing (the Vertes is on the back wrapper but in better condition than the very back of it); a few of the plates have a couple of tiny nicks; the text pages have normal browning; but beside the front cover being detached all the other pages are still attached; overall the plates are in GOOD COND.
