About The Book: The author of this book expresses their admiration for the historian's works on Bengali language and literature, and the impact it has had on their own understanding of Bengal during the time of Chaitanya. They first became interested in the subject when they discovered an old manuscript containing a treatise on dramatic art, which included fervent hymns to Krishna inspired by the movement sparked by Chaitanya. They also mentions their desire to translate Kavi Karnapur's powerful drama about Chaitanya and his companions, but were only able to complete a translation of the Prabodh Chandrodaya. The author praises the historian's ability to make the dead past come alive, a gift that combines the poet and historian within the author.
