Black textured boards are generally well preserved, with a few small surface marks and light wear at the extremities. Spine lettering remains bright and legible' blue endpapers are clean and attractive. Interior pages are clean and securely bound, with mild age-toning. The original, unclipped black dust jacket retains its vivid orange, white, and pale-blue typography but exhibits noticeable surface rubbing and scratches, edge and corner wear, and small tears or creases near the lower edges. The white reverse of the jacket shows age-toning and a small tear near the lower fold. A complete, visually striking copy of the stated first printing, retaining its original priced jacket. The book generated controversy among journalists when it appeared.
