Ajouter au panierEtat : Good. Western Union Telegram from "Benchleys." .In October 1960, the Shubert Theater in Boston hosted the pre-Broadway tour of Alan Jay Lerner's musical Camelot, with the show running from October 1 to 22. The production starred Roddy McDowall and was a precursor to the official Broadway opening later that year. Nathaniel… Benchley was a writer who co-authored the program for the 1938 Hasty Pudding show, So Proudly We Hail!, with Alan Jay Lerner.Robert Benchley was a celebrated critic and literary figure associated with the Algonquin Round Table (Algonquin Wits). Alan Jay Lerner and his composing partner Frederick Loewe also stayed and wrote at the Algonquin Hotel, where some guests complained about the noise of their work on My Fair Lady.Provenance: Estate of Alan Jay Lerner, (1918-1986).In 1962, Russel Crouse had a play, the musical Mr. President, premiere on Broadway. He wrote the book for this musical with Howard Lindsay, and it featured music and lyrics by Irving Berlin. Mr. President opened on October 20, 1962, and starred Robert Ryan and Nanette Fabray.Alan Jay Lerner is celebrated for his enduring and engaging contributions to musical theater, including 'My Fair Lady', 'Camelot', and 'Paint Your Wagon', among many others. His work is remembered for its distinctive blend of emotional depth and charm, which led to the creation of some of the most significant works in musical theater for both stage and screen.Over the course of four decades, Lerner rubbed shoulders with some of the world's most iconic figures, many of whom became confidants and pen pals.
