Robert Briscoe (1894-1969), from a Lithuanian family in Dublin, had a prominent role in Sinn Fein and the IRA. A close friend of both de Valera and Michael Collins,he went on to found a political party and was eventually the first Jewish Lord Mayor of Dublin. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the First Edition [stated]. Green cloth binding with titling in darker green on the spine. Clean text; 340 pages. Light rub and a slight darkening to the margins; else very close to Fine. This copy has been SIGNED [in Irish] by Robert Briscoe on the first endpaper, and again on the page facing the copyright.The dustjacket is complete and unclipped. It does suffer from some soiling and edgewear, with a larger chip at the head of the spine. In an archival plastic protector.
