Ajouter au panierAn excellent overall copy of this uncommon text, published in reaction to The Black Book of Communism (1997), which is considered one of the most influential and controversial books about the history of communism in the 20th century. The Livre Noir, published by collective-led publishing house 'Le Temps Des Crises', comprises a series of independent works from a range of historians, sociologists, economists, trade unionists and writers who each voice their critique on various aspects of capitalism. The appendix notably provides a list of 20th-century death-tolls attributed to the capitalist system covering colonial wars, anti-communist campaigns, mass killings and ethnic conflicts. Softcover, 427 pgs. Binding solid and square. Interior generally clean, though first 10-15 pages have some neat, vertical pen lines in occasionally along the margins. and the last free endpaper has a single sentence note written in ink. Rest of the text is unmarked, pages bright and clean. Covers have some rubbing and scuffing throughout, with a small bit of bumping to one part of the top and foreedge of the front cover. Overall an attractive edition of this unusual and scarce book.
