Ajouter au panierHardback. Etat : New. The rate of economic growth in China over the last 50 years has been remarkable. However this has only highlighted the inequalities between regions in China, making for considerable disquiet at the highest levels of Chinese policy-making. Not everyone has benefited from the same levels of prosperity and this book examines the many and varied policy solutions and proposals that have been applied to this thorny problem. The authors find that the industrial core of China (the South East and the Changjiang and Yellow River regions) is reasonably well integrated but not well connected to the remainder of the country. Indeed, evidence suggests that development in coastal areas comes at the expense of that in the interior while much of the policy designed to boost the interior actually flows to the coastal provinces. This original analysis of the linkages between regions in China, and regional policy since 1949, will prove an invaluable and illuminating account to a wide readership. This will include academics and researchers of Chinese studies and regional economics as well as policy-makers in the region.

Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : new. Hardcover. Provides cutting-edge advances in biologically inspired, biomimetically-designed materials and systems for developing the next generation of nanobiomaterials and tissue engineering Humans have been trying to learn biomimetics for centuries by mimicking nature and its behaviors and processes in order to develop novel materials, structures, devices, and technologies. The most substantial benefits of biomimetics will likely be in human medical applications, such as developing bioprosthetics that mimic real limbs and sensor-based biochips that interface with the human brain to assist in hearing and sight. Biomimetics: Advancing Nanobiomaterials and Tissue Engineering seeks to compile all aspects of biomimetics, from fundamental principles to current technological advances, along with future trends in the development of nanoscale biomaterials and tissue engineering. The book details research, useful in inspiring new ideas, that seeks the principles and rules implemented by nature, such as self-assembly, a bottom-up approach in which molecular structures are assembled with little or no external intervention to generate nano, micro, and macro structures. Other subjects covered in the book include: Cartilage tissue engineering as an emerging technologyThe fabrication methods of nanofibrous scaffolds and their potential utility in bone tissue engineering applicationsDental and craniofacial tissue engineering with bioactive polymers and bionanomaterialsStrategies to prevent bacterial adhesion on biomaterialsThe latest achievements in biomimetic ECM scaffolds prepared from cultured cellsGraphene oxide and graphene as promising scaffold materialsStem cells as a source for building tissues or organs in the laboratory This book compiles all aspects of biomimetics from fundamental principles to current technological advances and their future trends in the development of nanoscale biomaterials and tissue engineering.
