Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. Volume 1, no.1-4, of the literary magazine edited by Clifford Bax and Austin Osman Spare, bound the publisher's boards. While the boards show a century of wear, they have protected the interior wonderfully, including the original front wrappers of each number and the many lithographs. Bound with no. 4 is the prospectus for Volume 2, announcing the change to a smaller size ('Originally we chose the large page because we wished to give our droughtsmen the best possible conditions. We abandon it now because few people have shelves that are high enough to accommodate folios, and because (according to a well-known authority in the book trade) most people, if a magazine contains large pictures, disregard its literary contents') and offering a defense of the artists and the use of nudes ('It is always the nude that finds people out. Artists often forget that only one person in a thousand can look upon a nude-study as a work of skill and that all the others see it primarily as a challenge to their conceptions of morality'). No 1: 4 pages ads, 1-48, erratum slip between pages 2 and 3; no 2: 4 pages ads, 1-40; no 3: 1-40, advertisement for 'La Grand Ducasse Drolatique, An Apocrypha' by Haydn Mackey, between pages 4 and 5; no 4: Prospectus, 1-40. Wear to the corners and fraying to the head and tail of the spine, with 1 cm tears to the head. 37 x 27 cm. As this is a large book, extra shipping charges may be required.
