This copy was previously owned by Professor David Daube, who, according to The British Academy, was one of the "last surviving refugee scholars from Nazi Germany who made such an impact on the intellectual life of Britain and the United States in the postwar period". Laid in to this book are two carbon copies of a review of 'The Theodosian Code', along with a typed note on letterhead from W. Green & Son Ltd. of Edinburgh. W. Green was the publisher of 'The Juridical Review', and it appears that this book was provided by the publisher to Daube, who then wrote a review for the periodical. Both copies of the review have some handwritten corrections in ink, have been folded once, and have some minor creasing. The publisher's review request letter has a 5 cm tear to the bottom corner and some wrinkling to the dangling corner. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good.
