Boards have shelf-wear present to the extremities (crown of the spine chipped and worn). No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. The first publication of the revised text of this poem - the author completed the revision just before his death in 1959. This book also contains the variant readings from the printed versions, as well as ''some hitherto unpublished manuscript material which traces the development of the poem over a period of some 15 years'.' Denis Devlin (15 April 1908 21 August 1959) was, along with Samuel Beckett and Brian Coffey, one of the generation of Irish modernist poets to emerge at the end of the 1920s. He was also a career diplomat. E-183; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 72 pages.

Spotted and dusty to the head edge, the spine head bumped, the half-title a little marked, and a couple of leaves inherently creased in part, but about Very Good in slightly lesser jacket, with an old price sticker over the printed price, moderately rubbed with a short split at the head edge of the upper panel, and the stock faded primarily to the spine and lower panel (not affecting the print). Signed by Editor.

This slim and delicate collection of nine poems contains five by Coffey and four by Devlin. It was privately printed for the authors in a limited edition of 250 copies with an additiona…l pre-publication reprint of 100 copies. In an essay on recent Irish poetry, published in 1934, Samuel Beckett described Coffey and Devlin as "the most interesting of the youngest generation of Irish poets." A fine copy without any damage, library stamps, inscriptions or other markings.
