Gutes Exemplar; Einband etwas nachgedunkelt u. berieben. - Englisch. - Sakata ist ein Bantu-Volk in der Provinz Mai-Ndombe (Schwarzwasserprovinz, früher Teil der Provinz Bandundu) der Demokratischen Republik Kongo. . (wiki) // This study is based on my own research among the Sakata people during my service as teacher and missionary in their country. It was only during the last decade of my forty years there that I conceived the idea of a methodical survey of religious beliefs together with proverbs, riddles, songs, legends and fables. A project of this kind calls for good, knowledgeable informants. It was my good fortune to be able to consult men of the right age. Old people are somewhat diffident about revealing their beliefs to the white man, while the younger generation knows very little about them. My informants were well-versed in these matters and fully prepared to share their knowledge with me. Many of them were students at the pastor's school run by my husband, mature men of great experience, many aged about forty. But I have had other informants as well, all of whom consulted the old people of their villages as well as their own fathers. .
