This is the story of the Fleet Air Arm from its earliest days to the 1914 raids on the Zeppelin sheds at Friedrichshaven (when a 25-lb. bomb was a big one); to the first aerial torpedo attacks on shipping in the Sea of Marmora; to the epic battles of the last war -- the raid on the Italian fleet at Taranto, the crippling of the German battleship Bismarck, the Ruissian and Malta convoys and the non-stop attacks on Japanese outposts in the Pacific. It is a record of epic achievement, revealing the rise of naval aviation as one of the milestones of British sea history, the latest chacpter in the naval story that began some five hundred years ago.
