Marcel Imsand (* 15 September 1929 in Pringy , Canton of Fribourg ; 11 November 2017 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss photographer and photojournalist. Marcel Imsand grew up on his grandparents' farm below Gruyères Castle and in Broc . In Saint-Aubin, Neuchâtel, he completed an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic . In 1958, he married Mylène Dirac; they had three children: Isabelle, Jean-Pascal (19601994), and Marie-José (born 1962). From 1964 he worked as a professional photographer, initially primarily for daily newspapers and illustrated magazines in western Switzerland . From 1970 to 1987 he was responsible for the photographs of the Encyclopédie illustrée du Pays de Vaud . In Lausanne, he was also the official photographer of the Beaulieu Theatre and the IOC . In 2011, he donated his archive to the Musée de l'Elysée in Lausanne .
