Brossura. Etat : come nuovo. prima edizione. "Loves roses" are glass tubes, 3/8 inches in diameter, 4 inches long. Covered on one end with foil, each contains a cloth flower: red, yellow, blue, violet, white or green. They are duplicitous objects. If you ask one kind of person, they'll tell you these "stems" are romantic offerings, valentine's gifts. If you ask another kind of person, they'll tell you these are pipes for smoking crack cocaine. In September 2008 at a palazzo gallery in Brescia, Italy, Dan Colen and Nate Lowman installed the third incarnation of an evolving body of collaborative work. A long-envisioned but, until Italy, unrealized plan for a sculpture had been a "beaded" curtain made of "love roses" (and titled the same). The curtain was hung in a doorway leading into the ornate spaces housing the rest of their show. Dash snow arrived in Brescia when Colen and Lowman were finishing their installation. A close friend of the collaborators, snow had documented their shared process since its inception in 2007, and he continued here. As well-heeled Italian patrons (almost all of them women) arrived for the show's opening night, snow began shooting photographs of them passing through love roses on their way into the galleries. The piece created a theatrical plane through which snow could enter the partnership and break apart the odd boundaries of inclusivity and exclusivity inherent to art making and art consumption. In turn, this staging ground quickly provoked the visitors to make dramatic entrances. Every passage through love roses and across snow's lens built on the collaborative armature whether or not the participants were aware of the potential irony of the curtain or of the cumulative performance itself. At certain points, Lowman and Colen enter the frame of the photographs; at others, snow is visible in his simultaneously primary and tertiary role as auteur. The three planned to create a book from the images as soon as they saw Snow's processed film in 2008, however Snow passed away before they initiated the project. This book is made now through the collaboration of the Dash Snow Estate, Dan Colen, Nate Lowman and Brendan Dugan. cm 16x24; pp. 312; BW ills.; paperback. Rare and as new.

Paperback. Etat : New. This first comprehensive survey of Dash Snow's Polaroid photography chronicles the artist's early marauding on Manhattan's Lower East Side and conveys Snow's love of the photograph as memento. The joy and abandon of hard partying are converted by his Polaroid camera into powerful images that embrace the transience of the euphoric moment. All images are reproduced both fully-bled and actual size, as "objects," against a black background.

Hardcover. Etat : New. Readers of this book will not lack for images of penises (soft and hard), drug paraphernalia, naked old men, naked young women or melancholic landscapes. From Parr & Badger: "Snow began taking photographs as a teenager, as Thomas Michelli has written, 'to reclaim pockets of lost time: countless nights of hard partying that neither he nor his friends could remember the following day.' He became known for his small artist's books, in a typical zine style, which combined his snapshots, collages and found imagery with irreverant and ironic found texts, set a 'objects' against a matte black background.".

Etat : Near Fine. First Edition. First Edition. Octavo. An early photozine from Dash Snow; distinguished as one of his more sustained works of portraiture. With dozens of Polaroids and collage works focused on the mythical presence of Hassan (Jerrold) Heiserman; a lifelong bohemian who once fascinated Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, and was then living in Alphabet City's legendary C-Squat, where he was lovingly known to Snow as Papa Smurf. This copy sharply graffiti-SIGNED by Snow to dedication page (as SACE-IRAK). Contents: [80] pages of color xerography on glossy sheets. Loose folded sheets, lacking original binding band. Minor creasing to wrappers; near fine. Scarce, with no OCLC records located. Signed.

First Edition. First Edition. Octavo. Hand-numbered in black marker to rear cover (21/25). An early example of Dash Snow's neo-Dada aesthetic; perhaps most effective when he approached the photocopy bed as his canvas (cf. Zine Masters of the Universe). With Broken Bottle! Broken Dreams!, Snow collages the libertine Polaroids through which he chronicled the Downtown scene with underworld imagery from 20th century pulps and sensational press clippings of John Wayne Gacy, the Menendez Brothers, and Rod Ferrell's 1990s vampire cult. All of these elements richly layered with vertiginous graphical elements. A low-fi concert of turn-of-the-century decadence. Contents: [36] color xerox pages; stapled, unlike his more perishable elastic band bindings. A fine copy, save for minor scuffing to the self-wrappers, composed with a stunning cover design. Scarce, with no OCLC records located.

Etat : Wie neu. D.A.P., New York. 2013. First english edition, first printing. Mint, new, unread; originally shrink-wrapped in publisher`s plastic foil. Paperback with flaps (as issued). 185 x 278 mm. 440 pages. 430 color photos. Edited by: Mary Blair Hansen. Text: Glenn O`Brien. Text in english. Perfect condition! Sammler-Exemplar! "New York artist Dash Snow`s death in July 2009, two weeks before his 28th birthday, sent shockwaves of grief through the art world, though it was not unexpected. Since his late teens, Snow had used photography to documents his days and nights of extreme hedonism - nights which, as he famously claimed, he might not otherwise remember. As these Polaroid photographs began to be exhibited in the early 2000s, Snow was briefly launched to art-world superstardom, keeping company with the likes of Dan Colen and Ryan McGinley, with whom he pioneered a photographic style whose subject matter is best characterized in McGinley`s brief memoir of Snow: "Irresponsible, reckless, carefree, wild, rich--we were just kids doing drugs and being bad, out at bars every night. Sniffing coke off toilet seats. Doing bumps off each others` fists. Driving down one-way streets in Milan at 100 miles an hour blasting `I Did It My Way` in a white van." Dash Snow: I Love You, Stupid compiles these famous Polaroids, previously only published in relatively expensive editions. Opening with scenes of friends crashed on beds and couches, floors and even the street, it records hazily snatched glimpses of sex, hard drugs and hanging out; adventures in cars, baths, pools, subway cars, friends` apartments, on boardwalks and rooftops." (from the publisher)**********D.A.P., New York. 2013. Amerikanische Erstausgabe. Originalausgabe. Neu, ungelesen, verlagsfrisch; noch original-verschweisst in der Plastikfolie des Verlags. Klappenbroschur (wie erschienen). 185 x 278 mm. 440 Seiten. 430 Farbfotos. Herausgeber: Mary Blair Hansen. Text: Glenn O`Brien. Text in englischer Sprache. Perfekter Zustand! Sammler-Exemplar! Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 1600.

Etat : Fine in wrappers. Limited Edition. Small quarto. One of 1000 copies. SIGNED to the title page by Dan Colen and Nate Lowman along with 9 little heart drawings. In 2008, Colen and Lowman created a curtain-like sculpture made from crack pipes (i.e. "love roses"), hung from the doorway of their two-person show at Apalazzo Gallery in Brescia. At the opening, Snow decided to document the exhibition's (mostly female) attendees passing through the threshold. The artists intended to make a book with the photos, but Snow's unexpected death halted their plans, until this posthumous collaboration was published by Karma in 2011. Signed.
