Ajouter au panierWraps. Etat : As New. Thomas Cyrill Demand (born 1964) is a German sculptor and photographer. He currently lives and works in Berlin and Los Angeles, and teaches at the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg. Demand is known for making photographs of three-dimensional models that look like real images of rooms and other spaces, often sites loaded with social and political meanings. He thus describes himself not as a photographer, but as a conceptual artist for whom photography is an intrinsic part of his creative process.".

Ajouter au panierEtat : Very Good. Hardcover in a bright, unclipped dust jacket. 112 pages illustrated in color. Originally trained as sculptor, Thomas Demand approaches photography as a means of preserving his painstakingly created, ephemeral paper constructions. At no time do his forms strive for the perfect illusion, his is a wholly artificial world reduced to generic forms. Large immaculate photographs of interiors and architectural exteriors - a world peopled with inanimate objects and bathed in uniform lighting - are mounted on Plexiglass, which underscores the materiality of the photographic object. For each of his reproductions, Demand constructs life-size models using paper and cardboard. Like new. Record # 372195.

Ajouter au panier104 pp.; 20.5 x 15.5 cm.; sewn bound; black-and-white & color; edition size unknown; unsigned and unnumbered; offset-printed; Exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with show held March 25, 2006 - January 28, 2007. Contributions by Dieter Dath, Christian Demand, Joachim Valentin, Udo Kittelmann. "he Berlin-based conceptual artist Thomas Demand, born in 1964 in Munich, makes hypnotically 'off' large-scale photographs of painstakingly rendered construction-paper models of architectural spaces and natural environments that he fabricates in his studio. In this small, tight board book printed on thick matte paper, Demand documents his most recent project: a series of five photographs that respond to the 'degenerate' mid-century painter Max Beckmann's recently discovered lithograph series, Apocalypse. In Demand's interpretation, the horrifying incident is not Biblical instead he recreates, with incredibly creepy precision, the environment of a provincial German pub where a recent child abuse and murder scandal took place. The 52 reproductions in Klause reveal cinematically suspenseful details of this project." -- publisher's statement. Very Good, 4 x 20.5 cm. band of discoloration to verso cover, otherwise fine.
