Hardcover. Etat : VG-. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original cloth boards with gilt text on spine which has taken on a slight copper tone. Exterior shows scuffing and soiling and exterior spine hinge has several chips and small tears at the front and rear boards edges and corners also show bumps and wear. This publication was originally finalized three volumes, each volume contains separate parts. This is only one of the books which is volume three, part one. The internal hinges are good at the boards but it is breaking loose at the second front end page. Paper is toned due to age and there is some light foxing and spotting present. The front pastedown and end page both have personal name stamps, one of which reads "Private Library J.B. Hanford" and the second (which is stamped twice) reads "From A. W. Smiley". No other markings or found in the book, no handwriting, no library stamps. This particular volume has the page numbering system starting at 1629 and ends at 2152 for total of 523 pages.…

Dark cloth boards show spotting and staining along with edge and corner bumps/tears. The top of the exterior hinge for the front board shows cracking which measures about 2 inches in length. Top of spine also has some chipping present. The interior binding has some issues though the text portion appears to be good and pages are tight. The front hinge is completely cracked at the board, rear hinge appears good. Paper is toned due to age and there is some scattered foxing and spotting present. The only handwriting found in the book is on the front end page in which a presentation is penciled. No other handwriting found, no library markings, no bookplates. The main reason for the lower condition grade of fair is because there are no maps in the pockets in the secondary issue is the cracked front hinge inside and out. Internally, paper lightly age yellowed, 3/4 inch tear inside corners of first 20-30 leaves, 1/2 inch nick lower edge of rear gutter, o/w tight, clean, unmarked, paper crisp and probably never read. Contains pp 2153-2638 of the report (color f/o maps are in the preceeding volumes, NOT this one! ! ) . Describes the coal and gas fields, plus the red rock (sandstone and shale) found in Bucks County and Montgomery.
