LE COMMENTAIRE DU LIBRAIRE : Ce texte fut imprimé plusieurs fois à Hambourg en 1798. Cet exemplaire est imprimé sur VIII et 137 pages d'une typographie serrée alors que la bibliographie mentionne toujours XXIV, 302 pages pour ces impressions multiples de l'année de l'originale. Il est difficile de préciser l'antériorité de l'une sur l'autre. Le texte fut réédité deux ans plus tard avec une suite. L'abbé de Pradt (1759-1830) fut député du clergé de Caudebec aux Etats-Généraux. Il émigra à Hambourg dès la fin de la Constituante. Il y publia anonymement en 1798 cet Antidote dans lequel il formule des conseils pour contenir l'expansion française. Il rentra en France après le 18 brumaire et devint l'aumonier personnel et l'un des négociateurs de Bonaparte qu'il accompagna jusqu'en 1814.
