With the evolution of global power shift form Atlantic to the Asia-Pacific based on the immense growth, influence, assertiveness and confidence of Nepal's next door neighbours-India and China, the conduct of Nepal's foreign policy has become extra sensitive and serious. These dynamics spur both opportunities and challenges. This compilation of foreign policy speeches unveils the necessity of understanding this trend, and discussing threadbare its social, economic, and strategic implications in the context of Nepal's sensitive strategic geography, historic political transformation, protracted political instability and shifting ties with the neighbours relative to their power potential and larger international community. There must be a central unifying theme to bind all national actors for the larger and long term interest of the nation. This study introduces some of the fundamental issues that have plagued Nepal's foreign policy. It is time to shed shyness from the hard questions regarding the conduct of Nepal's foreign policy that is recurring time and again and injecting discrepancy in both policy and behavior of political leaders. Times and circumstances eloquently demand to be sincere and honest to the nation, learn from the past mistakes, and remain impeccable in the conduct to earn respect and trust from others. It is time for frank discussions and debates and strict adherence to an ethical and principled Nepali realism-a vision of enlightened, effective and pragmatic foreign policy rooted on the ground realities that manifest in tolerance, harmony, peaceful coexistence and resilience of the Nepali nationhood. This is best ensured with a sound democratic foundation and determined leadership.
