Science Times editor Nicholas Wade also includes pieces on the politics and economics of the environment, providing a much~needed context for the issues raised in the body of the book. The New York Times Book of Science Literacy, Volume II, concludes with an introduction to a new school of ecologists who are determined to restore lost and damaged habitats. All in all, this is a fascinating, often disturbing, look at the present status of the globe and its inhabitants, and an important contribution to the growing field of ecoliteracy.
