William Steward Gordon (1868-1948) was born in Danville, Illinois, and moved to Hillsboro, Oregon in 1880. He studied at Tualatin Academy, Pacific University, and Willamette University. Early in his career he became the principal of Cornelius High School and in 1885 received his license to preach. He resided in the Forest Grove and Portland area until his death.
