Prima edizione dell'opera maggiore dell'Arnaldi (Vicenza 1716-1794); ideata nel 1749 quando si accese la polemica intorno al teatro Filarmonico di Verona, distrutto da un incendio. Nella prima parte l'a. suggerisce un teatro ideale di tipo secentesco; la sala è a pianta semicircolare contornata da 5 ordini di palchi; nella polemica per la copertura della sala olimpica l'Arnaldi difese il progetto palladiano di una copertura a cassettoni. Sine damaged with loss of leather, both joints broken but binding is still technically sound. Interior with some minor dust traces but generally still a good.fine copy. Rare and interesting study on the architecture of theatres. Published in Vincenza, where the famous Teatro Olimpico of Palladio can still be admired. This is the main work of Arnaldi (1716 - 1794) who was a citizen of Vicenza. Not in Fowler, nor Millard. Cicognara 749-50.
