Illustrated with striking double page lithographs in ten colors by Russian/Ukranian avante-garde artist Alexandra Exter (1882-1949), a constructivist painter, friend of Picasso and Bracque in Paris - and one who worked in many fields from a peasant craft cooperative in Ukraine, to stage designing, costume design, original illuminated manuscripts and more. In her later years she became known for her illustrations for the publisher Flammarion. Large format. unpaginated. Good overall in illustrated boards - some wear to the edges of the boards and to the gray cloth spine, contents near fine, no dustjacket.

A very little wear to bottom right hand corner and the rest very good indeed. Little stamp "Made in France" to back cover. the whole panorama opens to nearly 7 ft 8 ins and fold up to approx 10 ins. square. 10 plates including the covers. Explanation of the life of the river to reverse, in French. Overall, a very nice copy indeed.

Album à système publié par le Père Castor dont les 8 pages lithographiées en couleurs, sont pliées en accordéon formant ainsi une grande fresque reversible d'environ 2 mètres de long repliée sous de fragiles couvertures cartonnées en couleurs. Le verso de la grande frise en couleurs comprend le texte instructif lui aussi agrémenté d'images légendées non colorées, qui décrivent les métiers, les constructions et objets divers en rapport avec la mer. Ce bel ouvrage spectaculaire est illustré par la grande artiste d'avant-garde russe émigrée en 1924, et fait partie des quatre "panoramas" expliquant aux enfants le relief géographique. Quelques taches. Sinon, exemplaire bien conservé.
