Since the low intrinsic absorption of thermal neutrons in most materials allows larger sp…ecimens to be used, extinction can be important in neutron diffraction. Indeed early measurements by E. Fermi and L. Marshall (see above) gave the result that the integrated intensity from a number of crystals was nearly proportional to F rather than to F , despite their mosaic character" (Twentieth century physics I, 456). - Sauber und gut erhalten.
