The Pictorial Flying Course is a rare much sought after aviation manual The text was written by Harry M Schofield an accomplished Royal Air Force test pilot while the extensive line illustrations were drawn by WE Johns famed for his Biggles novels This copy published in 1932 i…s complete with its rare original dust jacket The work provides a comprehensive guide to flying with the aim to provide the novice to be able to converse intelligently with others about aviation and to prepare flight students for their education in flying The yellow dust jacket with pictorial to the front is worn with chipping and a piece missing along the top edge There is tape to the underside along the hinges of the front and rear fly leaves as well as the top and base of the spine as a reinforcement measure Additionally there is a small circular piece missing from the front fly leaf The green cloth boards underneath are bright and clean and show very little wear protected by the dust jacket The pages are lightly toned with minor foxing to the prelims The majority of the book is illustrated by the line drawings of WE Johns with two pages at the rear featuring black and white photographs pp 100 A scarce title and rare to find with the original dust jacket A must for any WE Johns or any aviation enthusiastnbsp. book.

The wrap is generally smart with loss to the head of the spine and a closed tear to the tail, sunning to the spine and extremities and the odd small closed tear. Internally generally firmly bound with slight strain in places with generally clean and age toned pages with the odd spot, heavier to the front and rear. Ink inscription to the front blank.
