This is one of the publisher's "See and Read" books; each of which is written with a simple vocabulary and are intended for children from six to eight. This story concerns a young boy named Julio who loves his little town of San Luis, but there is no school in San Luis, and he wants to ask the President of Mexico to he;p bring a school to his town. The book is bound in the original pink cloth covered boards with black titling on the spine and front board and an illustration on the front board. There is a review of another books in the series on the rear board. The case of the book is in very good condition with some light damp spotting on the boards. The spine ends are slightly faded and the bottom corners are bumped. The contents are tight and clean with some foxing on the endpapers and ther first and last pages. The endpapers also have some damp staining on the spine edges and fore edge of the front fixed endpaper. There is a signed inscription from the author on the front free endpaper that reads: "For Ellen with love, Foddy". The book also smells a bit mustry. The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear and soiling, together with a little foxing, and the spine ends and corners are bumped and nicked with a small piece missing from the top of the spine. There are two unrepaired tears on the top edge of about 3/4" and smaller tears of about 1/2" on the top and bottom rear edges. The spine is sunned. SIGNED and INSCRIBED By the Au.
