Later straight grained tan morocco, with raised bands and gilt titles to spine, as well as elaborate gilt decoration to boards. All edges and endpapers marbled. A crisp clean example, with just a little handling and rubbing to binding and an appreciable scratch to the lower board. Very good. Contains important first-appearance articles on topics including Nystrom's Calculating Machine; the 1851 Great Exhibition; an Improved Smut Machine; Michael Faraday on Atmospheric Magnetism; Photography; a Stevenson Lighthouse; Telegraphs and Railways.
