Ajouter au panierEtat : Good. - 52 words typed on an 8-1/2 inch high by 5-3/8 inch wide sheet of his letterhead with his address printed at the top. Signed "Edward Howard Griggs". The top left corner of the letterhead is excised & there is a partial paper-clip mark with a tiny piece out to the top edge. Good. Included is an unsigned carbon copy of the letter which is being answered by Griggs. James B. Pond of the Pond Lecture Bureau writes that a club in Amsterdam, NY has invited Griggs to lecture and he asks whether Griggs would like him to handle the arrangements. Griggs replies "I think I would better stick to my regular plan of making my own engagements directly with the community inviting me, especially as my program for next season is now practically filled."Edward Howard Griggs was one of the early twentieth century's most widely heard, widely read and influential lecturers, critics and philosophers. His activities, lectures and appearances were widely reported throughout America from the turn of the century to his death in 1951. A prolific author and monologist, he published hundreds of monographs on various aspects of the arts, human civilization, philosophy and the thinking of his time. He also broadcast a series of 35 lectures titled "Lives of Great Men" which was one of early American radio's most influential historical retrospectives.
