Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. Neuware - At the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century, a large and varied group of the Russian intelligentsia became fascinated by Friedrich Nietzsche, whose provocative ideas inspired many of them to overcome obsolete traditions and to create new values. Paradoxically, the German philosopher, who vigorously challenged the established Christian worldview, invigorated the rich ferment of religious philosophy in the Russian Silver Age: his ideas served as a fruitful source of inspiration for the philosophers of the Russian religious renaissance, the so-called God-seekers, in their quest for a new religious consciousness. Especially Nietzsche's anthropology of the Übermensch was instrumental in their reformulation of Christianity. This book explores how three pivotal figures in the Russian religious reception of Nietzsche, i.e. Vladimir Solov'ëv, Dmitrii Merezhkovskii and Nikolai Berdiaev, engaged in a vacillating yet highly prolific debate with Nietzsche and how each of them appropriated his anthropology of the Übermensch in their religious philosophy. In order to explain Merezhkovskii's and Berdiaev's assessment of Nietzsche, the author highlights the significance of Dostoevskii: only by reading Nietzsche through the prism of Dostoevskii could both God-seekers pin down the religious ramifications of Nietzsche's thought. This book will be of interest to anyone fascinated by Nietzsche, Dostoevskii, Russian religious philosophy, Russian history of ideas and reception studies.…

Hardcover. Etat : Fine. Toulouse-Lautrec et Son Oeuvre Vol V Volume V of Toulouse-Lautrec et son oeuvre is a critical component of the definitive catalogue raisonné compiled by M. G. Dortu. Published in 1971 by Collectors Editions in New York, this specific volume is dedicated primarily to the artist's drawings. While the six-volume set is organized by medium, Volume V (along with Volume VI) catalogues the thousands of drawings produced by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. It serves as an essential scholarly resource for identifying and authenticating works on paper, providing: • Detailed entries for individual drawings, including dimensions, medium, and provenance. • Black-and-white reproductions of the artworks. • References to previous literature and exhibitions. Volume V specifically bridges the massive collection of drawings, following Volume 4 and preceding Volume 6. It is printed in French and was released as a limited edition (approximately 1,450 to 1,500 numbered copies) on fine art paper with deckle edges. This copy is in excellent like-new condition other than a little grime on the cover that it acquired over the years while sitting with other books, as it has no plastic dust jacket. It is from a set number #533, but the set was missing volumes IV and VI and therefore, we are offering it for sale as a standalone book. The other option is to purchase the four volumes offered, which are volumes I, II, III & V. Toulouse Lautrec (illustrateur).…

Hardcover. Etat : As New. Toulouse-Lautrec et Son Oeuvre Vol II Toulouse-Lautrec et son oeuvre, specifically Volume II, is a critical component of the definitive six-volume catalogue raisonné compiled by art historian M. G. Dortu (Madeleine Grillaert Dortu). Published in 1971 by Collectors Editions in New York, this monumental work documents the complete artistic production of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901). Volume II focuses primarily on the catalogue of paintings (peintures). It provides detailed entries, provenance, exhibition history, and bibliographic references for Lautrec's oil paintings. The volume is renowned for its extensive illustrations, contributing to the set's total of over 6,000 reproductions across all six volumes. Volume II is often bound together with Volume III to cover the full scope of his painted works and watercolors. The complete set, including Volume II, was produced as a limited edition of 1,450 numbered copies. The volumes are large folios (approximately 33.4 x 26.4 cm) bound in blue cloth with gilt top edges and uncut pages, printed on high-quality art paper. Volume II specifically contains hundreds of black-and-white plates illustrating the paintings. Due to its status as the authoritative reference on Lautrec's paintings prior to more recent updates, original copies are highly sought after by collectors and institutions, often commanding significant prices in the rare book market. This copy is in excellent like-new condition with no damage or wear. It is from a set number #533, but the set was missing volumes IV and VI and therefore, we are offering it for sale as a standalone book. The other option is to purchase the four volumes offered, which are volumes I, II, III & V.…

Hardcover. Etat : As New. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. Toulouse-Lautrec et Son Oeuvre Vol I Toulouse-Lautrec et son oeuvre, specifically Volume I, is the biographical and documentary foundation of the definitive six-volume catalogue raisonné compiled by art historian Madeleine Grillaert Dortu. Published in 1971 by Collectors Editions in New York, this limited edition set (restricted to 1,450 copies) represents the most comprehensive scholarly record of the artist's work. Volume I is distinct from the subsequent volumes as it focuses on documentation rather than plate reproductions. It contains approximately 181 pages dedicated to: • Biography and Anthology: A detailed account of the artist's life. • Exhibitions: A comprehensive list of exhibitions featuring the artist's work. • Iconography: Visual references and documentation. • Signature Examples: Detailed records of the artist's signatures to aid in authentication. This volume is in excellent like-new condition with just a couple small slits on the plastic dust jacket, which have been carefully taped. Other than that, we can detect no damage or wear at all. This volume is #533 of the $1,450 published in 1971. See photos. …

All four of these volumes are in excellent condition with no damage. Vol V has no plastic dust jacket, as do the other three, so it has picked up a little bit of grime along the way, but it is otherwise in perfect condition like its comrades!! See photos While the six-volume set is divided by medium, with Volumes II and III collectively dedicated to the catalogue of paintings (oil paintings, pastels, and watercolors), Volume III specifically covers a significant portion of these painted works. It serves as the primary reference for authentication and provenance, assigning unique "P." numbers to paintings (e.g., La Goulue en Almée is cataloged as P. 590). The volume is lavishly illustrated with hundreds of black-and-white and color plates, providing essential visual documentation alongside detailed entries that include dimensions, signatures, exhibition history, and literature references.
