This edition re-issued separately in 1920, first thus. Small 4to, x + pp160 complete with the 20 tipped-in colour plates and a further 27 b/w illustrations by Arthur Rackham throughout. Hardcover no dust jacket. Original dark blue cloth binding, in archival acetate cover, with gilt titles and designs to spine and front board in very good condition a little shelf wear to top & tail of spine and a little bumping to tips. Inside except for some spots of foxing all pages, with top edge dyed blue, in very good clean and bright condition. The brothers are among the best-known storytellers of folktales bringing tales such as "Cinderella" ("Aschenputtel"), "The Frog Prince" ("Der Froschkönig"), "Hansel and Gretel" , "Snow White" ("Schneewittchen") and "Rumpelstiltskin" ("Rumpelstilzchen") with their first collection of folktales published in 1812. A very nice copy.
