Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. Neuware - 'Brittlewings or Told by a Fairy in Captivity' is an enchanting example of early 20th-century fantasy literature, woven with the whimsical and often poignant threads characteristic of the era's fairy tales. The narrative centers on Brittlewings, a fairy held in captivity, who recounts a series of magical adventures and observations of the hidden world. H. L'Estrange Malone crafts a vivid landscape where the boundaries between the mundane and the magical are thin, inviting readers into a realm populated by sprites, mythical beings, and the delicate wonders of nature. This work captures the imaginative spirit of its period, offering a blend of moral lessons and pure escapism. Through the voice of its supernatural protagonist, the book explores themes of freedom, wonder, and the intricate connections between all living things. 'Brittlewings or Told by a Fairy in Captivity' remains a charming piece of children's fiction, notable for its lyrical prose and its ability to transport the reader to a world of miniature marvels and ethereal mystery. It is a testament to the enduring appeal of fairy folklore and its power to illuminate the human condition through the lens of the fantastic. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Hardcover. Etat : VG. First edition. 189pp, with many illustrations in the text, plus the colour frontis. With the author's signed gift inscription to the front free endpaper. Contents clean and fresh. Both front and back endpapers have small corner stains from former sellotape which had been used to secure a plastic cover. The upside of this is that it has protected the blue cloth binding: the thin boards are slightly faded and faintly marked, and the corners have been knocked, and the spine blue has faded, and the spine ends are crimped. A very good copy. [nb See also our signed copy of Nipping Bear, by the same author].

"Brittlewings or Told by a Fairy in Captivity" is an enchanting example of early 20th-century fantasy literature, woven with the whimsical and often poignant threads characteristic of the era's fairy tales. "Brittlewings or Told by a Fairy in Captivity" remains a charming piece of children's fiction, notable for its lyrical prose and its ability to transport the reader to a world of miniature marvels and ethereal mystery.
