Cream colored dust jacket soiled and toned particularly at spine, long tear and shallow chipping at spine head with 2.25cm deep chip at heel plus small chip near center affecting title lettering, shallow chipping and wear at panel edges; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Black cloth with vibrant gilt stamping to spine and front board. Deckle fore-edge and bottom edge; toning to fore-edge and top edge with latter have some soiling as well. Light toning/foxing to endpapers. Interior pages are clean. Binding is firm. A very good+ copy in a good+ dust jacket with the editor's five-line ink inscription upon the front free endpaper: "For | Emmet Kilpatrick, Esq., | in token of friendship, | Hunter D. Farish | May 11, 1940." The inscribee, whose first name was misspelled by Dr. Farish, was fellow Alabama scholar and Troy State College (now Troy University) professor Emmett Kilpatrick (1890-1968) as the book was part of a large collection indirectly acquired from his estate.
