Scarce poetry journal/Little Magazine founded by Rosemary Deval, Stuart Mills and later Simon Cutts. The three began publishing out of the Trent Book Shop in Nottingham in 1962. Eleven issues of Tarasque were published between 1965 and 1971 (nos. 1?11/12).

Black laminated boards illustrated in white text and photographs with quotes in red comic-book style bubbles. Fine. Acquired from Maud Lloyd, an admired leading dancer with Ballet Rambert in the 1930s. Later she wrote, with her husband, Nigel Gosling, influential dance books and reviews under the pseudonym, 'Alexander Bland'. When Rudolph Nureyev defected in 1961, they became his surrogate parents.

Stapled card covers over 15 leaves, printed rectos only: a one-page introduction, 13 poet bios, each with an illustrated portrait, and an order form addressed to Jan Falkiner, secretary. Modest wear and front cover a bit sunned, very good or better. A large and interesting advertisement for a poets' collective brought together to facilitate readings; they make it clear in the introduction that they are "not a school of poets, nor a union, nor a guild. Although most of us have worked together in concerts [sic], we are not a clique." The poets are Pete Brown, Spike Hawkins, Adrian Henri, Anselm Hollo, Mike Horovitz, Libby Houston, Alan Jackson, Roger McGough, Ted Milton, Adrian Mitchell, Jeff Nuttall, Brian Patten, and Tom Pickard. A very small imprint inside the lower wrap reads "An F.[? letter is rubbed] Norman Cox Production." Interesting and uncommon.

A seminal magazine for poets and artists from the British small press scene of the 1960s and 1970s. Instead of an editorial, this issue features 'some pointers taken at random from notebooks and other sources'. What starts as manifesto-like writing signs off accordingly with the wry endnote: 'It may depress readers to learn that the T.L.S. is in its 65th year.' Includes contributions by Stuart Mills, Simon Cutts, Michael Butler and Spike Hawkins. Condition: slight toning to edge of dust jacket, internal pages fine. Overall: near fine.

An admission ticket to a London performance by the Liverpool Scene poets, including Adrian Henri, Andy Roberts, Mike Evans, Mike Hart, Brian Dobson, Percy Jones, Brian Patten, Spike Hawkins, Pete Brown, Graham Layden, and the Exploding Galaxy (David Medalla et al). Rare ephemera of the Liverpool Scene on what must have been a fascinating evening considering the line up, perhaps a little surprising to see the Exploding Galaxy in the line up. Condition: some general wear to edges and corners, mild ageing and handling marks, handwritten price on ticket, no tears, Very Good.

POOR.OLD.TIRED.HORSE. Numbers 9-25,1961 -1967 - all original. 17 issues in total. Edited by Ian Hamilton Finlay, POOR.OLD.TIRED.HORSE. is seen as the most important concrete poetry journal of the 1960s in Britain. The journal title comes from Robert Creeley's poem "Please" (1959). The early numbers are black & white, but later numbers involve colour (often silkscreen) illustrations as the concrete poetry movement blossomed. It has become highly influential for both poets and artists (see for example the ICA group exhibition POOR.OLD.TIRED.HORSE. of 2009). Issue no. 10 is 'a concrete number', including Augusto de Campos, Eugen Gomringer, Dom Sylvester Houédard and Edwin Morgan. Issue no. 12 is a 'Visual Semiotic Concrete' edition. Issue no. 18 is a collaboration, with writings and script by Ad Reinhardt and drawings and layout by Bridget Riley. Issue no. 25 the final issue is dedicated to one-word poems.
