Ajouter au panierHard Cover. First Edition, First Printing. (1976). Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket. Sky-blue boards. The spine is stamped in silver. Octavo. 258pps. An excellent, collector's-quality copy: clean, tight, square, and bright. All tips are sharp. The text is immaculate; no previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, has been price-clipped: it is otherwise fine. SIGNED and inscribed by Shulman -- in letter format -- on the ffep. This is the first book of Carl Hiaasen, the ghostwriter. ".In this irreverent fictionalized look at medical schools and the training our future doctors receive, Lloyd Goldman learns that locating your funny bone is the first thing you have to do in order to survive four frantic and frustrating years. Goldman had always wanted to be a physician, but he wasn't quite prepared for the fierce competition, the stamina required, and the bewildering, often absurd situations he encounters. Mixing both anquish and antics -- from losing his first patient to misplacing a cadaver's gall bladder -- the book is an eye-opening and side-splitting story of one young man's journey through medical training." Purchase with confidence: all books, gradings, and descriptions are rendered the care of a genuine bibliophile. Satisfaction guaranteed or all costs you've incurred will be promptly refunded. Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Fine. 1st Edition. 1979 1st ed. INSCRIBED by author on ffep & signed "Neil." 213pp. green cloth tall 8vo: Very Good in a Fine dj in Brodart poly cover [some age darkening & smudging of top & fore edges; small faint coffee spill outline near spine head of top edge; else a clean, complete & tight copy] Warm inscription is by Dr. Shulman (1945-2023) to Atlanta writer and colleague Margaret Anne Barnes (1927-2007). Also laid in is a 5x7 black & white photograph of Neil Shulman lounging on a park bench (same as the back cover of the dust jacket). This photo is also inscribed warmly to Margaret Anne Barnes & signed "Neil Shulman." Also laid in is a 4x6 color snapshot of Shulman with actor Michael J. Fox who played his fictional character in the movie "Doc Hollywood." A 5x7 black & white promotional photo of the dust jacket is included as is a review copy notice and publisher's press release. This copy was a review copy sent to Margaret Anne Barnes, whose true crime book "Murder in Coweta County" appeared in 1977 and won an Edgar Allen Poe Special Award. Overall an unusual first edition association copy of the Atlanta physician and author's second humorous novel after "Finally . . . I m a Doctor." This one is said to have been ghost written by Carl Hiaasen, who met Shulman in the early 1970s while a student at Emory University, where he spent two years before transferring to the University of Florida because it had a journalism school. Shulman was associate producer of the Michael J. Fox film, "Doc Hollywood," the screen title for the book. This is the true first edition. Inscribed by Author(s).
