Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Good. Hardcover. Full leather. Raised cords with faded titles on the spine. Leather is a bit scuffed, cracked at the hinges, but both boards securely attached, still attractive. Bottom quarter inch of title page has been snipped off. Text block good and tight, without foxing. 472 pages. Scarce collection of sermons, including Hoadly's most famous "The Nature of the Kingdom of Christ" in which he argues that there is no basis in the scripture for Royal authority of a King over a people. The sermon, delivered in 1717, was sensation. This sparked what is known as the Bangorian Controversy (Hoadly was Bishop of Bangor at the time). Please email with questions or to request photos.
