Ajouter au panierEtat : very good. First Edition, undated in publishing details but image on front cover dated 1936). Hardcover book . Pictorial boards, no dustjacket . 248pp, quarto. With 6 colour paintings in plates (some by Stanley Orton Bradshaw) , 4 b&w plates from paintings, and various line drawings in text. Eleven stories, three of them…by W.E.Johns. Fair condition overall. The contents are very good, with the pages well bound and clean, though with tanning to margins and closed edges, and occasional browning to plate margins or backs. The covers are fair : front image by Bradshaw is largely clean and quite bright, but with very rubbed edges and with some small abrasions to surface. Back cover has some marks and general light soiling. The spine is very worn with frayed edges, surface cracking and loss of decoration to centr. Name to flyleaf. Pictures available.

Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good+. First Edition; First Printing. Clean red cloth with black titling to the spine. Head/tail to the spine a little 'turned' and fading, but overall VG. In the original publisher's pictorial dust-jacket. The dust-jacket has some small nicks/loss to the head/tail of the spine…and the rear cover has a triangular sliver of loss to the top inner corner near the spine, and nicks with loss to the other 3 corners, but the d/j is now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks near Very Good - particularly the front cover which features a lovely 'Stead' illustration of Biggles and (? ) Ginger. Some light toning to the page fore-edges. Internally some pale foxing (pale yellowy spotting) mainly to the front endpapers/ prelims and rear endpapers, o/w NO Inscriptions or Marks. A Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy. 190 pages. Black and white illustrations to the text - but no indication of which artist(s). I assume the ones in the Biggles story are by Stead but I can't authenticate that. The Book has 11 Short Stories by the following authors = Captain W. E. Johns, Geoffrey Trease, Garry Hogg, Leslie Morley, Michael Poole, Jeffery Farnol, Eric Leyland, Leonard Gribble, Percy M. Westerman, Gundy Hadath and "Taffrail". Overall a near VG copy, and in the scarce and attractive d/j. See Images. ; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall. Illustrated by Stead (Dust-Jacket Cover +?) (illustrateur).
