A Very Good, almost Near Fine copy. M'Fingal (1775), also known as McFingal, is a satirical epic poem in four cantos about the American Revolutionary War. The character of McFingal is a Scottish Loyalist. In the poem, author John Trumbull includes biting social commentary about the Loyalists and those who did not support the American war effort but also satirizes the Revolutionary War as a whole and other aspects of it. John Trumbull (1750-1831) was an American poet and politician. After the war, Trumbull served in the Connecticut State Legislature from 1792-1800 and as a judge of the Connecticut Superior Court from 1808-1819. Introduction and Notes by Benjamin J. Lossing (1813-1891), an American historian. He became well-known for his historical books about the American Revolution and American Civil War.
