Articles - several appearing in English for the first time - by Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Richard Hulsenbeck, and many others reflect the political and artistic revolution with which the Dadas confronted the crises in Europe after World War I. This collection provides vivid examples of the Dada influence on the Western world and demonstrates Dada's continuing power to affect the arts of the sixties and seventies.". Detailed Contents, Introduction, Translator's Note, Bibliographical Notes, Bibliographical Survey (Bernard Karpel), Index of Authors and Titles, List of Illustrations; xxxiv, 574 pages. The original brick-colored cloth is in excellent shape with corners sharp and silver lettering bright on the barely-bumped spine. The interior is fresh, crisp, and completely clean; HOWEVER, the front free endpaper has apparently been replaced. (It looks neat and professional, with a heavy paper.) The original pictorial dust jacket shows moderate wear, mostly at the edges, with one small tear on the front panel; the price has been clipped but the date remains on the front flap: 0272. [Please see my five images of the actual book.] "Because Arp was one of the leading spirits of contemporary art, this excellent new translation of his writings offers us an unusually detailed documentary not only of his own life in art but of the artistic intelligence and history of the modern movement as well." As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage. All books are wrapped with special care and are shipped promptly with tracking; international sales sent via global priority, also with tracking.
