He studied philosophy, mathematics, theology and oriental languages at the University of Giessen starting in 1709, continuing in Marburg and Halle. Reusch earned his master?s degree in Jena in 1717. He became Rector of the Council School in Jena in 1719 and a professor of logic and metaphysics in 1738. Later, in 1755, he joined the theological faculty earning a Doctor of Theology during the university's jubilee in 1758.
