Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. First Edition Thus. RARE COMPLETE 10-VOLUME SET, published in English by Collier, undated (circa 1909). A beautifully preserved set with all ten volumes firmly bound. Top page edges gilt, side and bottom page edges deckle-cut. Handsome overall appearance with red leatherette spine, bright and unworn gilt spine lettering, and marbled boards front and rear of each volume. Minor foxing only at page edges. Numerous uncut signatures and no evident pen or pencil marks throughout the ten volumes indicate that these books are likely unread. Minimal shelf wear is evident: very small chip at crown of spine of Volumes 9 and 10 only; minimal edge scrapes on five of the volumes; surface scrape about 1.5" square on the exterior marbled board on front of Vol. 1. Overall remarkably very good, firm, bright and clean condition for a set well over a century old. Volumes are 8" tall by 5.75" wide, and each is approximately 1" thick, with a total shelf width for the whole set of about 10.5 inches. The Introduction to Goethe's Works in Volume I was written by Thomas Carlyle in 1839. Contents are as follows: v. 1-2.
