Ajouter au panierFirst editions of eight issues of Analog: Science Fiction and Fact magazine containing the first appearance of Frank Herbert's Dune, later published as a novel and adapted into the two blockbuster films of the same name. Octavo, original pictorial wrappers, with black and white illustrations. Includes December 1963, January and February 1964, which contain Dune World in three parts, and January through May 1965, which contain Prophet of Dune in five parts. The first six issues are in the bedsheet format with the final two issues in digest format. In near fine to good condition with wear to the extremities, a few small losses to the spines, and losses to the covers of the May 1965 issue. Very rare in serial format, being the first appearance of this timeless science fiction classic. Dune was awarded the first Nebula award for best science fiction novel, shared the Hugo award, and "became one of the most famous of all science fiction novels" (The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction). Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'Dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family--and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream. A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction.
