This book was part of a series by the same authors, on Victorian interior design and furnishings. The books were published at the height of the Aesthetic Movement. Interior pages are aged / lightly browning but are bright with an occasional soil mark. The interior pages do NOT have writing, or creases. One page has a closed tear. The page edges show a light water stain however interior pages are not marred nor is book musty. This is a thick book- 300 pages and binding is holding firm. No loose / separated pages. Mustard cloth covered boards are embossed, and elaborate illustration is gilded & outlined in black. Gilding on cover and spine is still shiny. Corners are lightly bumped and top and bottom of spine rubbed through. See pictures. Rare to find a book that is 140+ years old and is in very good condition - beautiful in design, fully intact, with illustrations and very readable.
