Undated but circa 1900 Rubaiyat reprint, including the fifth and first versions, with notes on the second, third & fourth; notes, biography, Tennyson poem on Fitzgerald, note on Khayyam's life, editor's note, Jami's allegory with note on his life and note to Professor Cowell on its translation; notes. Hardcover, full padded brown leather, gilt titling & decoration. Spine & part of front cover faded; edges rubbed, spine ends chipped, small gouge near base of spine. Text clean; 288 pages, b/w frontispiece portrait of 'Fitz'. Size: 5¼" by 7½".

Fangel, Alfred Jones, Henri Grousse & Others (illustrateur). 4th Edition. 3+ Persian illustration fronispeice + full Title page, (with most of protective tissue paper loose between) +XV ( mostly the life of Omar Khayyam, The Astronomer-Poet of Persia ) +112 pages (that includes 8 pages of "Notes" in middle/before 12 pages of "Notice of Jami's Life" At rear is a 6 page "Meaning of the story" followed by the 5 page "Agenda" at the end. Original quarter leather & maroon buckram binding in Good condition, minor edge wear, and rubbing to leather spine, readable gilt embossed spine (see my scan showing front/spine). Contents mostly very good, clean & tight, No inscriptions, just some light foxing. mostly to 1st few pages front/rear. This being the 4th & last edition of Fitzgerald's translation published during Fitzgerald's life and with his final edit. A very good original copy without any restoration (and original dark grey end pages). Size: 13.5 x 18cm Approx.
